The service you will work in….

This role is a part of Brent domestic abuse services within Hestia. Within Brent DAS we have two specialist services complex needs unit and South Asian Domestic Abuse Refuge.

You will be working with service users with substance misuse, exiting sex workers, domestic abuse and/or a combination of complexities of needs such as low-level mental health with substance misuse/domestic abuse. They will be based in a 9-bedroom complex unit and support service users who are living independently with life goals and housing. 

A day in this role looks like….

As a Team Leader at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Domestic Abuse Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To be supported by the Service Manager in the running and strategic development of Hestia's Brent domestic abuse services in line with the contractual requirements.
  • To work closely with the Service Manager to ensure that refuge workers and complex needs support workers listen and support people to de-escalate their immediate situation. 
  • To be supported by the Service Manager in the development, implementation and maintenance of partnerships and engagement strategies for the service.
  • To develop joint working and monitoring protocols with key stakeholders and partners for both services and to be the main point of contact for ongoing joint working relationships.
  • Supported by the Service Manager, to manage all elements of service performance related to the contract requirements for Brent domestic abuse services including analysis of KPIs, outcomes and user experience measures.
  • To lead on the timely and accurate submission of all internal and external reports detailing interim strategies to address any areas of underperformance in line Brent domestic abuse service contract requirements.
  • To work with the Service Manager on the development and implementation of both Brent domestic abuse service's annual Business Plan and Equality plan.
  • With the Service Manager, to maintain the continuing relevance of the provision of the service user's needs within Brent domestic abuse service by ongoing planning, monitoring, and evaluating and effective service delivery.
  • To work with the Service Manager to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all employees, customers, visiting professionals and other visitors by ensuring service delivery is in line with organisational procedures and H&S Legislation.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • To work within the operational hours of the service, which are 9-5pm Monday – Fridays. You will also be on-call duties once every eight weeks evenings/night, including weekends and on bank holidays.
  • Extensive experience in supporting vulnerable adults and children who have experienced domestic abuse.
  • Knowledge and understanding of performance monitoring and delivering consistently high service user standards.
  • Understanding of the complex dynamics of domestic abuse and how these may present in a refuge environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
  • Knowledge of methods of assessing, formulating, implementing, recording, reviewing, and monitoring service user support and assessment plans.
  • Ability to positively promote the organization at external events, including delivering presentations and creating marketing material.
  • Able to use computer systems including case management systems to create accurate reports and able to assess and audit staff ability to use computer systems to record client data accurately and to a high standard.
  • Ability to write & interpret complex reports.
  • Strong knowledge of VAWG.
  • Strong working knowledge of housing and benefits legislation that relate to domestic abuse.
  • Strong experience of working in partnership with statutory services and developing stakeholder relationships.
