We’re looking for a talented, mission-driven individual to lead our Product function over the next 4-6 months, supporting the team in launching our next set of new subjects.

HEAD OF PRODUCT

Responsible to: Product & Engineering Director

Team: Product & Engineering

Term: Fixed-term contract – 4-6 months (May-October)

Location: Remote, UK

Hours: 36 hours per week (if full-time – flexible arrangements will be considered. Our core working days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, to allow effective collaboration time with colleagues).

Line management responsibility: Product Management Team, Data Analysis Team, Research & Evaluation Team, Product Design Team, Software QA Team

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and managing a high-performing Product department, leveraging internal and/or external relationships.
  • Overall decisions relating to the performance and function of the Product department.
  • Maintaining specialist expertise in digital product and strategy development and being the authority across our organisation and more widely across the sector.
  • Ensuring that all our products are user-centric, pedagogically sound and backed by research, delivering high impact for teachers and pupils, and are rigorously evaluated.
  • Engaging with stakeholders from across the education system and strategic partners in education technology and product design.

Knowledge, skills, and experience

  • 3+ years holding responsibility for product development across a department.
  • Experience in recruiting, developing and managing a high-performing department.
  • Experience in managing a 6-figure budget.
  • Extensive experience collecting, analysing and using qualitative and quantitative data to inform continuous product design and development.
  • Demonstrable experience designing and rolling out continuously improving agile ways of working in a growing organisation.
  • Proven success in understanding and articulating challenging technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of education policy and the UK education system (desirable).

We offer flexible working where you can base yourself at home or in a co-working office of your choice; whichever works best for you. We work a 36-hour a week and most colleagues finish early on a Friday or take every other Friday back to ensure they keep a healthy work-life balance.
