Job Title: Estimator

Salary: £35k – £40k Negotiable
Acorn by Synergie on behalf of our Manchester based client are recruiting for an Estimator with some Buying experience. The client is a leading and award winning business within their industry, specialising in joinery, plastics, and polystyrene projects. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality projects to their clients and are looking for a dedicated Estimator to join their creative and dynamic team.
We are seeking an experienced Estimator with possibly a strong background in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have specific experience in joinery, plastics, or polystyrene projects. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for various construction projects, ensuring that bids are competitive and comprehensive, and projects are run within budget and timescales.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment.
Analyse project specifications and drawings to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
Prepare bid proposals and presentations for clients.
Monitor and update estimates as project details evolve.
Maintain accurate records of all estimates and related documentation.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an Estimator preferably in the construction industry.
Some buying / sourcing experience ideally from China
Specific experience in joinery, plastics, or polystyrene projects is highly desirable.
A curious and probing mentality to project questioning and reasoning.
Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
