Job Title: Facade Estimator
Department: Facades Technical Department Estimating
Reports to: Technical Manager
Salary: £43,000 – £47,000 (negotiated on experience) + Bonus
Hours: 08:00 17:00 Monday – Friday

The Faades division is currently developing a range of cladding products intended for use as a rain screen faade for the external envelope of a building or structure. Job Summary:
The Facade Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of brick slip facade systems for a variety of construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, manufacturing and design principles related to brick slip facades. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry, particularly in facade systems, and possess excellent analytical, communication, and commercial skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates for brick facade system and associated framing and fixing systems.
Identify the scope of work and project requirements, materials, and design requirements and develop detailed cost breakdowns, including material costs, and potential project savings resulting from the use of the Faade system. Estimating will require the preparation of costs from accurate budget rates at tender stage through to full schedule of costs for developed designs. This will include the costing of products designed and manufactured by my client and products and systems designed and/or supplied by key supply chain partners.
Tender Preparation:
Prepare and submit comprehensive tender proposals, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and complete.
Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to gather accurate pricing information.
Review and assess bid documents, addenda, and clarifications to ensure the accuracy of the estimates.
Project Coordination:
Work closely with the project management and design teams to understand project requirements and constraints.
Provide value engineering options where applicable to optimise costs without compromising quality.
Assist in the negotiation of contracts and terms with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Market Research:
Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and advancements in facade technologies.
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the project and provide solutions or contingency plans.
Ensure that all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
Reporting:
Prepare and present detailed estimate reports to senior management.
Track and report on cost variances during the bidding and construction phases.
Participate in post-tender reviews and feedback sessions to continuously improve the estimating process.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
Experience:
3 years + of experience in construction estimating, specifically in facades, cladding, or brick slip systems.
Proven track record in preparing estimates and tender submissions for large-scale projects.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of brick slip or other similar facade systems, construction materials, and manufacturing.
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
