Apply now and start your new journey with us Role summary You will be responsible for estimating the costs of new and existing projects using current estimating software (STRUMIS) to assist senior management in determining the feasibility and scope of the project. Hours of work: Monday-Thursday 08:00-17:15, Friday 08:00-13:00 Location: Garvagh – satellite offices in Coleraine, Cookstown and Lisburn are available Key duties: Log all tender enquiries onto trackers and distribute to business leads for go/no-go decisions Open and assess all tender inquiries. Review all appropriate documentation (drawings, specifications, prelims, client enquiries, forms of contract, bid submission documentation, programme etc) and provide a tender risk profile per tender Identify key supply chain partners and select appropriate alternative suppliers for tender support. Use of Tekla and similar modelling software to build structural models. Seek information from fabrication records to constantly refine the tendering processes and rates. Prepare and send bid packages for suppliers to price including strict dates for return. Follow up with suppliers to ensure tender prices are received by agreed deadlines Input all information on the Estimation software throughout the process Identify inclusions and exclusions from our bid and those of our supply chain partners. Investigate any key winning strategies on each tender Liaise with the key Design and Contract Management team at start of tender process to determine a methodology for contract completion incorporating value engineering and appropriate new technologies. Determine a programme and timetable for completion of tender in line with Company procedures and tender deadline return allowing sufficient review periods. Initial tender appraisal and completion of the tender review checklist. Undertaking take-offs / quantifying steelwork from engineer drawings or tender design drawings, assessing fabrication hours & Coating areas for internal pricing Producing either a lump sum price or completed bill of quantities based on the tender enquiry. Assessing the contractual tender and or contract risks so management can decide if a tender should be progressed. Liaising with production / contracts departments when reviewing the enquiry details Sending out enquiries to 3rd party suppliers of steel/paint & erection costs. Contacting / liaising with clients for time extensions and general information requests to enable accurate tenders to be prepared on a day-to-day basis. Essential criteria 2-5 years experience working in an Estimating role within a structural steel Company, *substantially we will consider candidates with less experience. Relevant knowledge of structural steel within a design and build process. Knowledge and experience of 3D modelling software, such as Tekla, Trimble connect, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Beamdrill or similar type packages Experience of compiling tender submissions including tender handovers and client facing and negotiation Technical knowledge of the structural steelwork industry, contracts and manufacturing.
