Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance (must have been used in the last 12 months)
Deliver insight from data using statistical and data science techniques, by applying skills in coding, mathematics and statistics.
The main activities are to:
Working with cutting edge technology on marine geospatial data on a wide range of fascinating and impactful projects
Work collaboratively on problems in a supportive and diverse data science team
Work alongside our Data Engineering practice to implement industry leading MLOps approaches
Deliver research projects relating directly to the marine geospatial environment.
Evaluating and understanding the best way to implement MLOps in the data science projects
Work in an agile team designing solutions to complex big data challenges and applying deep learning techniques
Working with internal stakeholders to understand user requirements, presenting methods/results/uncertainty to end users.
Producing prototype solutions and working alongside the Data Engineering team to realise and productionise.
Supporting learning activities across the organisation to spread the word and grow the practice across the organisation.
Working with like minds across academia and beyond to enable pollination of ideas and help to establish the UKHO as a leader in the field.
Significant experience with Deep Learning/MLOps approaches – main requirement
Be capable of confidently programming in either one or more of the following: R, Python, Matlab, Scala, and able to pick up other programming languages quickly.
Production experience of data analytics, data processing, data visualisation, scientific research methods and machine learning.
Significant experience of processing geospatial, marine or oceanographic data – particularly 3D point clouds – bathymetry or lidar data.
Production experience of deep learning, Python, Cloud and geospatial datal.
Experience with bathymetric data, lidar data or some other form of 3D point cloud data.
