Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a Secondary school in Newport for a number of Behaviour Mentors.

The positions available are full time and will be for the rest of the academic year.

£300 – £350 a week.

What does a Behaviour Mentor do?

Working as a Behaviour Mentor you will be supporting behaviourally challenging students to engage in mainstream education.  For the role you will be working within the school Learning Support Centre and a majority of the students you support will have Additional Learning Needs or Behavioural Needs.  A Behaviour Mentor will actively encourage participation and attendance in school, by working 1:1 and in small groups to instil subject confidence & self-esteem and supporting students with across their classes.

You will need to work flexibly with students; being empathetic to their requirements and setting clear expectations from the start. The school places a great emphasis on the ability to work as part of a team and being adaptable to the ethos of the school.

Who makes a good Behaviour Mentor?

The students you will be supporting can be very challenging at times so it is important that you have some previous experience handling challenging behaviour – this experience can be personal or professional.   As an individual you must be empathetic, patient and above all, reliable. As a Behaviour Mentor you will play a big role in the students school life and it is important these students have consistency with their support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
