Timber Business Development Manager
Are you an expert in timber and want to contribute to the growth of the Jewson brand? We're looking for a Timber Business Development Manager to work in partnership across our Northampton Business Unit, delivering profitable sales and margin growth for timber, panel and related products to both new and existing customers. You will ensure that the timber and related product offer in the Business Unit is market leading locally and leads to market share growth in line with our purpose and values. You should also be keen to develop timber knowledge amongst colleagues across the Business Unit so that Jewson is seen as the destination of choice for timber by both existing and new customers.
As a Timber Business Development Manager, your day to day duties will include:
Find and develop key new business via lead sourcing, lead follow ups, and general customer interaction
Driving the full offer, expertise and services of the Timber Specialist Branch, have input into the required stock profile, support preferred buying deals, whilst at the same time maximising the best deals available for the Business Unit.
Act as the 'first point of contact' in relation to large timber enquiries, from both internal and external customers
Manage the supply and demand of timber taking in to account upcoming opportunities and market factors, including stock levels, transferring stock across sites for sale purposes, and building relationships with key suppliers.
Developing trusting relationships both internally and externally in order to deliver 'customer first' solutions every time
Acquire a thorough understanding of target customer needs and requirements and expand relationships by continuously proposing solutions that meet our purpose and values
Work with category, supply chain and other support functions to ensure that all sizeable opportunities are leveraged
What we're looking for in a Timber Business Support Manager:
Proven expertise in timber and sheet products, gained through industry experience in timber sales/development roles
Recognised timber trade qualifications preferred
Proven experience of working in customer facing roles, with an ability to build strong relationships
Proven track record of sales and margin growth
Proven experience of identifying and securing new timber, sheet and related product sales to customers
Previous merchant knowledge preferred with an emphasis on timber and sheet expertise
Experience of developing and executing plans and working cross-functionally
Proven financial and commercial awareness
Problem solving ability with a "Customer First" and "Pro-active" ethos
Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels
Understanding of supply chain, inventory management and working capital
