ROLE TITLE: STRUCTURAL ENGINEER PROPULSION AND MECHANICAL SYSTEMS REPORTING LINE: The Structural Engineer will report directly to the Principal Mechanical Engineer, subject to change as the team grows over the next 12 months. DEPARTMENTAL OVEVIEW: The Propulsion & Mechanical Systems department sits within the Technical Team and is responsible for delivering all mechanical design, engineering, and integration activities for our eFoiler Propulsion and Primary / Secondary mechanical systems. The department is also critical for the delivery and performance of all Artemis Technologies vessels and is rapidly expanding its footprint within the company. THE ROLE: The Structural Engineer will contribute to the design and development of Artemis Technologies eFoilerTM with primary focus on mechanical systems, structural engineering, working at a system level with Structural Engineering and Naval Architecture departments. KEY RESPONSIBILITES/ACCOUNTABILITIES Working with ATL design team, contributing to the structural engineering of the ArtemiseFoilerTMvessels: Structural engineering of ArtemiseFoilerTM(Propulsion and Mechanical Control Systems). Structural engineering of Vessel Mechanical Systems (steering, docking.) Structural engineering of Systems and components. Delivery of innovative 3D designs for components & assemblies, focused on lightweight and cost-effective components, using CATIA V6. Design, Check & Approval of structural components in accordance with ATL Approval processes. Carry out FEA and utilise hand calculations to verify designs as required. Timely delivery of design, 3D CAD and production drawings to support the Head of Drive Train Integration, Mechanical Systems & the team. Collaborate with Manufacturing department to deliver high-quality, cost- effective construction and engineering methods. Work closely with all members of the Technical Department to ensure theeFoilerTMpackage is of the highest standard. Support ATL Technology Roadmap by staying informed with industry advances and state of the-art. Create, review, and approve technical documentation to support development, test, and compliance activities. Ensure that the structural deliverables meet all appropriate regulations. Attend team and 1-1 meetings and fulfil reporting requirements as required by Artemis Technologies. Ensure compliance with Artemis Technologies Policies and Procedures. Build good working relationships across Artemis Technologies. Contribute to shaping a culture that reflects Artemis Technologies Values and Guiding Principles and enable the company to achieve its goals. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Education/Qualifications and Experience Required: University degree in Mechanical Engineering / other relevant engineering discipline such as Automotive or Aerospace(2:1 Hons or above). Minimum of 3years of relevant professional experience in a marine / automotive / motorsport / aerospace environment is required. Key Skills Required: Technical/Design skills: In depth understanding of structural mechanics and first principles and the ability to analytically solve problems using a first principles approach. Experience in structural engineering across a range of materials in component and assembly design. Demonstrated experience in design for manufacture and material selection. FEA experience and in-depth understanding. CAD knowledge and experience (CATIA V6/3DX preferred). Able to undertake and interpret design analysis / verification through use of CAE. Knowledge or experience with maritime structure a plus. Communication skills: Good report writing skills clear, concise and well structured Excellent interpersonal skills Organising skills: Ability to coordinate with other departments and flag issues. A focus on delivery to an agreed schedule Teamworking: Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
