They’re seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in Python development, Azure cloud services and GIS Technology to join their compact, high-impact team in a full-time role, accompanied by flexible home working arrangements.
The Role
As a key member of the team, you will contribute substantially to back-end development while maintaining involvements in front-end processes, working in collaboration with the talented Frontend Developer in a harmonious and close-knit environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, deploy, and sustain web-based applications, focusing on GIS and Earth Observation.
- Engage with Azure AKS, Azure Postgres, ACR and integrate CI/CD and Terraform within workflows.
- Upskill in GIS under the mentorship of the business owner, a recognised industry expert.
Essential Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python and essential libraries (Flask, Django, Numpy, Requests, Dask, etc.)
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy.
- Competency in GitHub, Docker, Windows, and Linux
- In-depth knowledge of Cloud technologies with a strong emphasis on Azure, or strong AWS skills to transition.
Bonus Skills:
- Familiarity with queuing technologies (Redis, Celery)
- Experience with Python geospatial libraries (GDAL, Shapely, etc.)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Terraform)
- Understanding of GIS and Earth Observation data formats and OGC standards/services
