Senior Quantity Surveyor
Based Peterborough region

J. Murphy & Sons is recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Peterborough and Huntingdon Gas Compressor Upgrade Project.

The Project
The Project, operating under NEC form of contract for National Grid, consists of the completion of gas compressor stations at two sites, Peterborough and Huntingdon. The project commenced in mid February with planned completion by April 2023.

The Role
* Preparation of internal commercial cost and value reporting and any other reports which may be required
* Preparation of Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
* Preparation, administration and management of NEC subcontract agreements
* Production and analysis of weekly cost reports
* Procurement of supply chain partners, including forming subcontract agreements for large to medium values
* Production and management of material procurement schedules
* Development and maintenance of the project risk and opportunity register
* Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
* Producing accurate material take offs from project drawings
* Production of accurate cost and value forecasts
* Working closely with the J. Murphy & Sons project team and supporting regional functional teams
* Collaboratively working with the Employer to ensure contract compliance

Your profile
* Degree in Quantity Surveying
* Significant Quantity Surveying experience as a contractor's Quantity Surveyor
* Preferable experience of working on National Grid contracts
* Experience of working with NEC forms of contract
* Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate with external stakeholders and supply chain partners
* Sound knowledge of reading and understanding Primavera programme tools, including understanding critical path analysis
* Passion for continuous improvement
* Drive to succeed in all tasks undertaken
* Experience of project controls, including cost control measures and reporting tools
* Experience of procurement of Subcontractors and material suppliers
* Preference to be MRICS qualified (or equivalent), or be able to demonstrate that they are working towards Chartership
* Full driving license
