As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of construction procurement projects, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, public procurement policy, and internal standards. You will also manage a small team of technical professionals and provide mentorship and leadership to ensure high-quality, timely project delivery. Your Duties: Manage Construction Procurement: Oversee and lead procurement exercises in collaboration with clients and the Corporate Procurement Unit. Technical & Contract Documentation: Draft, review, and support tender and NEC contract documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including Asset Strategy, Cost Management, and external contractors, to develop robust tender documents. Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team, ensuring motivation and effectiveness in delivering high-quality construction procurement services. Performance Reporting: Monitor and report on project performance, including cost and time management, and feed into the CPUs risk register. Compliance & Governance: Ensure procurement practices meet all regulatory requirements and reflect best practices in public sector procurement. Continuous Improvement: Promote an ethos of continuous improvement, ensuring best practices are integrated into future procurement projects, by reviewing and implementing effective policies and procedures. Person Specification Your Profile: Qualifications: Option 1: A Bachelors Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification) in a relevant Building/Construction Discipline, Procurement, or Business related subject with at least 3 years relevant experience in Building/Construction Option 2: A BTEC Higher (or equivalent Level 5 qualification) in a relevant Building/Construction Discipline, Procurement, or Business related subject with 4 years relevant experience in Building/Construction Option 3: Equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning AND at least 5 years significant relevant experience in Building/Construction Membership: Candidates must be a member of a recognised professional body for a Building/Construction related discipline, or recognised procurement professional body (CIPS) OR be committed to either attaining a relevant qualification or Chartered Membership of such a professional body agreed by the Director of Asset Management within 18 24 months of appointment. Experience: Applicants must demonstrate significant relevant experience in ALL of the following areas: 1. Liaising with clients to help them develop and specify their construction procurement requirements 2. Development and preparation of construction contract documentation for tendering, delivering the procurement of repairs and maintenance contracts from initial brief through to contract award 3. Working with, drafting and managing the various forms of NEC contracts inclusive of the suite of contract documents ensuring delivery of tender exercises 4. Leading and delivering construction related procurements ensuring that projects are properly managed and delivered in line with the agreed procurement strategy and programme, targets, standards and procedures 5. Reviewing technical documents and providing critical assessment, feedback and advice 6. Experience in the mentoring and training of colleagues regarding NEC contract related matters inclusive of previous lessons learned, building these into new procurement exercises, ensuring continuous improvement Can demonstrate: Ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders Excellent planning and organisational ability Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills Strong customer focus Effective oral and written communication skills including the preparation and presentation of technical reports Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programmes Candidates must possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full. Your benefits: £19.81 per hour. Pension Contribution. Additional Information: Full time, Temporary, 13 weeks initially. 09:00-17:00, Monday-Friday.
