Senior Payables Officer
Temporary Full Time
One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Senior Payables Officer. This is a temporary contract for 5 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.
Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary
The Senior Payables Officer will play a key role in ensuring that an efficient and effective service is provided in relation to invoice payments, electronic invoicing, managing the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and supervising the interfacing of supplier invoices from feeder systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Play an active role in conjunction with the Payables and Income Manager and Payables Team Leader in service-based projects, e.g., Energy Bills Support Scheme grants, business grants, and any others as required.
* Provide advice to internal services on the invoice payment process
* Day to day management of the electronic invoices received from major suppliers
* Supervise the interfacing of supplier invoices from feeder systems into the Council’s financial management system including reconciliations.
* Daily management of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) including the completion of the CIS return to HMRC
* Dealing with complex customer enquiries (Internal & External) in relation to the Accounts Payable function.
* Carry out BACS payment and Cheque payment run processes
* Creation and testing of procedure notes
* To deputise for the Payables Team Leader, where appropriate
* Carry out any other duties as required by your line manager from time to time in accordance with the grading of the post.
