Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Technical Lead

Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Technical Lead required by an established managed service provider located in Woking. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will act as the technical lead for a team of 10 infrastructure engineers supporting a customer based with their cloud (largely Azure) based infrastructures. There is scope for progression into a Technical Director role for the right candidate.

Hybrid remote working. Typically, three days per week in the office, two days remote.

The successful Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer is like to have experience working in an MSP environment. The Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer will be responsible for auditing new customers’ existing network infrastructures and scoping/designing new solutions. Typical customers for this company tend to be around 200 employees or so.

The Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer will be responsible for

  • Standardising and improving customer infrastructure via regular reviews
  • Leading and mentoring a team of 10 infrastructures spanning, 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support
  • Developing a continual service improvement place for software, hardware, service, and security offerings
  • Project scoping, planning, budgeting, management, and delivery.
  • Acting as the most senior point of escalation within the team

Key experience

  • Strong network infrastructure knowledge
  • Azure
  • 3rd / 4th line technical support
  • O365
  • Strong Windows server, storage & virtualisation knowledge
  • Technical leadership for the provision of firewalls, switches, network security etc
  • Endpoint management – MS Intune

Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.

  • AWS
  • Prince 2 (or similar certification)
  • Any relevant certifications around Azure / cloud infrastructure / architecture
