Senior Electronics Engineer

My client is a Cambridgeshire-based robotics company who are developing innovative products with the potential to revolutionise the industry they serve. Due to significant investment and growth we are now actively seeking to recruit a Senior Electronics Engineer to join their in-house team.

You will be responsible for developing all electronic sub-systems used within their robots, including those for 3D imaging, sensor monitoring, safety management, and motor control. You will also have responsibility for ensuring compliance with CE and EMC regulations.

This is an exciting time to be joining them as they are expanding across the business and the ongoing development of the next generation of products means that your ideas will turn into a reality.

Based at their site in South Cambridgeshire (approximately 15 minute walk from the local train station), the successful candidate will be working simultaneously on two main projects: the continued build of their current generation of robots; and increasingly focusing on developing the next generation.

Key responsibilities:

Meeting CE requirements for EMC and operator safety
Designing new electronic sub-systems
Design for manufacture and test
Working within established release process
Scaling manufacture
Building high quality processes for field maintenance and support

Ideally applicants should have experience of designing machinery manufactured in medium volume production (50-500 units) such as special purpose machinery manufacturer or within an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). Previous experience of the CE certification process would be beneficial, as would previous work with imaging equipment such as cameras and other optical sensors.

In addition, candidates should ideally have the following:

Degree qualified or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or relevant technical discipline
Proven track record of completing full life cycle of several electronic products from clean sheet through to production
Design experience for industrial / commercial products where cost, quality and reliability are paramount.
Significant amount of PCB design
Design for EMC, manufacture, and test
Experience of mixed signal circuit design, commissioning, testing, failure analysis and calculation of failure rates
Experience of power electrical and motor drive
Using EDA software
Progressing designs to volume manufacture
Safety-critical system development
Firmware development experience would be beneficial but not essential

We are keen to find electronic and electrical engineers with a real passion for fine detail and a completer-finisher approach to design. You will need to be self-motivated to solve problems independently, as well as the ability to work in a team and take direction from Lead Engineers.

We are able to consider applications from a wide range of industries, with the salary and joining level (Engineer / Senior Engineer) on offer will be commensurate with your previous experiences and achievements. All staff are eligible to participate in the attractive company share scheme.
