Risk and Compliance Officer

Permanent Full Time

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Risk and Compliance Officer in a national organisation's Head office based in Peterborough, Hybrid working is available. This role, you will provide guidance and challenge on risk and compliance issues, ensuring requirements are met, and embedding a culture that ensures customers are treated fairly. You will work closely with the Senior Risk & Compliance Manager to implement and embed a risk management and compliance culture that supports business growth and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage business and conduct risks, using a commercially sensitive approach

* Help to ensure risks and controls are identified, validated and documented, advising the business where necessary, and conducting root cause analysis to prevent / mitigate against repeat events

* Facilitate a good working knowledge of risk within the business, and provide effective and efficient risk and compliance support

* Assist with a monitoring program for risk and controls compliance

* Perform risk assessments to understand risk level and scope

* Monitor and report to management, compliance with laws, regulations and policies as applicable

* Assist with the Enterprise Risk Framework and best practice guidance

* Contribute to the production and submission of relevant data and regulatory reporting

* Provide support to aid understanding and adoption of regulatory change requirements

* Assist with the design and delivery of action plans, and support to help business areas achieve expected standards of regulatory compliance

About You:

* Have a minimum of 2 years experience of working in a risk, compliance or conduct-focused role, ideally with exposure to general insurance regulation

* Can demonstrate a working understanding of how the relevant regulator(s) operate and current risks/influences affecting the insurance sector

* Confident in challenging others and comfortable acting as a role model for “doing the right thing”.

* An effective communicator at all levels, able to communicate complex ideas in a non-technical way

* A skilled influencer, negotiator and results-focused

* Is an adept relationship builder, especially with key stakeholders

* Able to work unsupervised, but also a good team player, who enjoys working cross-function and level to achieve results
