· JOB TITLE: Research Associate
· LOCATION: Oxford
· CONTRACT – 12 months
· SALARY: circa 28k
SRG are currently working with a Biotech company seeking a Research Associate to join their team.
Our client aspires to create the next generation of antibody therapeutics, and in doing so, change the prognosis for patients living with life-changing conditions.
This role would suit scientific graduates however some experience in industry would be desirable.
Key responsibilities:
· Bringing energy, enthusiasm and positivity to the company
· Molecular biology including
o DNA preparation and purification
o PCR
o Cloning
· Maintenance of cell cultures
· Transient protein expression with mammalian cell lines
· Antibody purifications
· Performing critical laboratory experiments and analysing the data to contribute to strategic decision making
· Day-to-day laboratory management as part of the team e.g. maintaining a safe and clean working laboratory environment, re-ordering laboratory consumables
· Establishing and maintaining quality sample archives
· Gathering, analysing and presenting data from a variety of sources to the wider team and organization
Applicant’s required attributes:
· A BSc in a relevant discipline (such as Biology, Biochemistry, pathology, cell biology or Natural Science, Immunology)
· Enthusiasm for and commitment to drug discovery and drug development research
· Proven recent experience in
o Mammalian cell culture
o Molecular and biochemical techniques (such as; bacterial cell culture; flow cytometry; PCR; ELISA; protein expression and purification)
· Evidence of excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including
o Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
o Ability to work efficiently with strong attention to detail
o Ability to build effective working relationships
o Laboratory method development
o Ability to work flexible hours when required
o Proven written and oral communicative ability
o Problem-solving skills
o Strong IT skills
Desirable skills
o Experience in running biological assays on primary cells and cell lines
o Good knowledge of statistics
o MSc degree in relevant subject
o Year in industry placement or similar experience
