Role: Radio Testing Expert

Location: Newbury

Salary: £30,000-£38,000

Full Time, Permanent

Your role

To manage and support the acceptance and integration of Radio related Software, Hardware and Features through all test phases, to a defined standard process into the live network. To work with Radio Design, Radio Vendors, other Test areas and Operations to deliver quality solution into the live network with minimal customer impact.

The Radio Test Team is responsible for acceptance testing Radio related Software, Hardware and features within both the test environment and live network. It helps to protect the service experience being delivered to millions of customers by identifying faults prior to them affecting our customers.

You will possess creative problem-solving skills in a team environment and comfortable with communicating clearly and efficiently throughout varying levels of both the customer and Altran businesses. Due to the nature of the assignments undertaken by Altran you will work in an environment that promotes autonomy and initiative, requiring a flexible attitude. Above all, you will have a desire to progress.

Responsibilities

* Planning of a test activities

* Witness and/or review Supplier Quality Acceptance Testing

* Identification of Test Requirements

* Development of Test Specification and Test Procedures

* Execution and/or witnessing of tests cases

* Plan FOA (First Office Application) of a release into the live network

* Monitoring of network performance during FOA and FSI

* Raising of defects on tracking systems

* Reporting test progress and test completion

* Handover software/hardware releases into Operation when fit for deployment

* Assist with installation & integration of new radio related elements within the testbed

* Assist and/or perform build, support and maintenance activities on the Testbed Radio equipment

* Support other test areas on with Radio related issues

* Contribute to applicable forums i.e. Project, Support and Technical Review Meeting

* Support knowledge share across other members of the Radio Test Group

* Nationwide and some foreign travel as required

Your profile

Qualifications and Technical Skills

* Strong analytical skills

* Working knowledge of MS software, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word and SharePoint

* Effective communication and presentation skills, verbal and written

Knowledge and Experience

* Experience in mobile telecom environments

* Expert knowledge of 2G, 3G & 4G Radio Systems

* Appreciation of 5G network

* Working knowledge of industry standard Tools (Wireshark, TEMS)

* Test and integration experience in multi-vendor environments

* Flexibility assome unsociable hours may be required during Out Of Hours upgrades

* A broad understanding of how key telecommunication systems and services work

* A broad understanding of key IT and mobile telecommunications technologies

* Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

* Ability to work as team player and autonomously
