Building a sustainable tomorrowBAM Nuttall are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor who can strengthen our existing team, delivering large civil engineering projects across Scotland. The projects are predominantly within the energy infrastructure sector, building new substations to support Scotland’s transition to net Zero.We have positions available within our ASTI Framework in locations across Scotland but candidates will be based either at our Kilsyth office (near Glasgow) or in our Inverness office during the early stages with the view of going to site when these are established in late 2025.Your missionAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policyMaintain effective communication with project managers, Managing QS and other associated engineering disciplinesManage, supervise and mentor junior commercial staff aid their developmentProvide input and professionalism to meetings with clients representativesProvide commercial input with supply chain partners through tender enquiries, pre-contract meetings, analysis, recommendation, contract vetting and subcontract documentsCommercial management of subcontractors including payment preparation, final account work negotiationMonitor cost of site resources and timely production of reliable cost performance dataProduce monthly cost and value reports, quarterly reports and present to senior managementTake part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategyEnsure adherence to Risk and Opportunity management protocol and advise the project team accordinglyUnderstand and promote usage of Company Procedures and suggest improvements to senior managementInvolvement in change management including ensuring adherence to Contractual timescales and Notices & input to the programmeEnsure timely production of Monthly Applications for Payment in accordance with the provisions of the conditions of contractProvide commercial advice to the site team and management on all contractual issuesAttend and provide input to all site commercial meetingsManage time and workloads for yourself and the commercial team in a structured mannerAssist in defining and delivery of commercial training to all site staffWho are we looking for?The following are mandatory requirements:Successful experience at Quantity Surveyor level for a main contractor demonstrating effective core commercial skills would be advantageousAbility to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project team including the Client, Project Managers and DesignersHave the confidence and ability to work within a team environment, and to have a positive influence on outcomesWilling to help and assist those around you in their developmentCompetent in the use of Microsoft Excel & Microsoft WordWorking towards CICES membership or equivalentThe following are desirable requirements:Early Contractor Involvement experienceExperience of target cost contractsWorking towards CICES membership or equivalentWhats in it for you?CompetitivesalaryA wide range of family friendly policies8 % matched pension contributionsPrivate healthcareLife assurance26 days holiday2 wellbeing days1 volunteering dayPersonal and professional developmentBAM Nuttall is alsocommitted to equality of opportunity in all its employment practices, and to developing policies that supportwork-life balance.BAM is committed to ensuring a fully inclusive recruitment and onboarding process, so if at anytime you feel you may need any reasonable adjustments, do not hesitate to speak with one of our team, and we will do our best to support you.JBRP1_UKTJ
