QA Team Leader

The Role

Here at Hain Daniels we are currently recruiting for a QA Team Leader at our Corby site. In Corby, we produce freshly prepared fruit, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies, fresh fruit patisserie and fruit jellies for the retail channel.

To lead, develop and manage the on-shift, primary technical provision to the manufacturing unit.  To contribute to ensuring that the unit meets legislative, customer, accreditation and company requirements.  To act as the first point of factory Technical contact for Ops, Engineering and other departments and to provide a dynamic and proactive factory Technical presence.

Key Responsibilities

Deputy to QA manager – able to adopt key responsibilities from that role on an occasional ad hoc and longer defined term as needed

Collect Key Performance Indicator data with a view to developing statistical measurement of business performance

Personal completion of internal audits as assigned through the schedule – may require occasional weekend or overnight working to cover specific audits

Build and maintain knowledge of legislative, customer, accreditation and internal business requirements

Work with audit team during investigations into micro issues collecting sampling and auditing process

Compile data for further analysis, for example micro trending

Provide advice to Operations and Engineering teams on technical (legal, quality, safety, integrity) matters

Authorise risk assessed concessions consistent with maintaining food safety, quality and legality when the need to deviate from procedure arises

Manage and develop QA team members

Management of the time and attendance of QA operative

Adopt an open / alert manner (as an alternative to being entirely task focussed) and issue non-conformances / quarantine notices as appropriate outside of routine task list

Adopt an open and proactive manner during factory time, ensuring that issues are fixed “in the moment” where possible and consulting with colleagues where appropriate to facilitate rapid solutions

Be alert to – and appropriately escalate – developing trends in areas of responsibility / expertise

Represent the site in areas of responsibility / expertise with customers and third parties

Play an active role in the HACCP team as required

Provide specific reports to the business that measure performance in areas of responsibility

What you will need for the role / what it will take

Degree / HND in a food or science discipline.

Lead Auditor qualified.

Experience in chilled food, at supervisory level.

Internal and supplier auditing experience.

Experience in team / individual management and development.

Understanding of systems which control food safety, integrity, legality, quality – e.g. HACCP, GMP, Hygiene.

Understanding of food microbiology.

Understanding of food labelling.

Computer literate.

Ability to coordinate effectively with wider audit team members across a number of departments / disciplines.
