Group Purchasing Manager

Advantage are proud to be representing an established and successful electrical appliance supplier in Salford for a newly created role of Group Purchasing Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established business in taking ownership for purchasing of stock for all of the group operating companies.

Working onsite in Salford in the procurement and supply chain team you’ll develop and implement purchasing strategies required to achieve business objectives. You’ll work closely with other business functions to understand spend, analyse variance and create a forecasting system to ensure timely delivery of stock.

What are we looking for?

  • Ideally a CIPS / Degree or equivalent experience in purchasing and supply related discipline
  • Experience in analysing procurement data with the ability to spot trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Strong communication skills to engage with internal marketing and sales stakeholders as well as external suppliers
  • As you’ll lead a small team prior experience in managing / leading other purchasing professionals is sought.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with the Group’s overall business objectives.
  • Create forecasting systems that ensure just-in-time delivery of stock that supports our sales and prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Work closely with our marketing, sales and finance teams to track spending, analyse variances, and implement changes
  • Analyse procurement data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments, including our sales teams, to forecast demand and plan inventory accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers to resolve issues and build strong relationships.
  • Analyse and compare supplier prices, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Define the product roadmap and drive innovation within new product development.
  • Manage all purchasing in line with the relevant budgets for each Group company, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency,
  • Manage all stock holding within the space limits across the group sites.
  • Identify and assess potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Prepare and manage documentation such as purchase orders, contracts, and invoices.
