Job Description

What you’ll be doing a Project Engineer working on our Highways projects

The main goal of this role is to assist the project teams in managing projects ensuring delivery against strict timescales and within budget. Further to this you will assist in the technical execution and coordination of a wide range of Systems integrated contracts assisting the project Management in a safe and timely delivery and carry out Installation and Commissioning Works, predominantly on Highways CCTV. Being able to work away from home is key for this role, across the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Change Control
  • Site Surveying/Operational Visits
  • Liaison with suppliers/Supply Chain
  • Assisting the project manager in control and execution of projects within contract budget and timescales
  • Ensuring that all Risk Assessments and Method Statements are submitted to the client in time for all programmed activity.
  • Continually manage project expectations with team members and other Stakeholders
  • Understanding of security, access control and CCTV principles or related discipline.
  • Production of accurate project reports as directed by the project manager
  • To be proactively involved in supporting the Project Manager throughout the duration of the project
  • To maintain an accurately detailed daily site diary of site conditions, progress and the resources available to undertake the work activities throughout the construction phase.

Qualifications

Qualifications/ Experience/ Knowledge:

Essential:

  • BTEC HNC/HND or equivalent standard
  • Registered ECS card holder.
  • UK Full Driving Licence
  • Experience in a site engineer capacity, including all aspects of project delivery, process development and delivery.
  • SC Security Clearance will be required. Will be applied for via Chubb.

Desirable:

  • IPAF 1B
  • SSSTS Certificate
  • Highways England Passport
  • HERS Card

Experience:

  • Experience in working both independently and in a team-orientated, collaborative environment.
  • Experience of Integrated security solutions; to include CCTV, access control and perimeter protection.
  • Working knowledge of fibre-based communications, network architectures and client server topologies

Personal Qualities and Behaviours:

  • Must be flexible in work location as projects are located throughout the UK.
  • Travel is an essential part of this role, as is regular and prolonged periods based on a site so ability to stay away from home during the working week is required.
  • Must be able to assess information, evaluate solutions and devise appropriate course of action.
  • Must have good communication skills in both verbal and the use of written English language.
