Production Shift Manager

Experienced Shift Manager required on a full time, permanent basis for our client based between Huntingdon & St Neots.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small but very well established company who are market leaders in their field.

The position is working 12 hour rotating day & night shift on a 'continental' style pattern.

Main Purpose:

• Responsible for all onsite shift production operations to ensure achievement of published shift production plan to specified quality targets.
• Manage shift towards achievement of 95% Manpower Productivity across all plants.
• To ensure that all shift production activities are in full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and site rules.
• Ensure overall agreed site cleanliness and housekeeping standards are enforced and maintained
• Deputise for the GM on a pre-planned basis to cover annual leave and sickness absence as required at short notice.

The Role & Responsibilities:

• Effective day to day managing, motivating, control and deployment of all staff reporting to ensure agreed production objectives are achieved in planned timescale to the required quality standard.
• Maintain and control discipline in all areas and ensure that all employees reporting work to contract' and remain on station.
• Attended return to work interviews, and disciplinarians. So as to insure that any agreed actions are in forced / complied with.
• Ensure induction and mandatory training requirements of staff are delivered and signed for.
• On delivery and completion of weekly Operator Training Programme' from the Plant Operator Manual and tests concluded all documentation is to be signed and Sundown skills matrix updated.
• In association with GM identify own SWP, TBT, FLT and First Aid training requirements and those of their shift operatives against the company skill's matrix.
• In association with the GM develop Operatives training plans and deliver identified modules from company POM as required with all documentation being signed and company skills matrix updated.
• Thereafter ensure effective performance and development of all shift staff towards achievement of 95% Productivity by means of day to day management, fortnightly performance review and ongoing training
• Implement company policy and procedures with regard to Holidays (one man per shift at any one time) and HR issues.
• In association with the GM conduct shift Operatives annual appraisals and ensure that all issues raised are dealt with inc. generation of development/training plans.
• To ensure that all shift production activities are in full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and site rules.
• Ensure all accidents and near misses are reported and documented in accordance with Company procedure
• Responsible for ensuring that all site and production areas are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe state and that housekeeping' is of a consistent high standard i.e. in accordance with 5S/Shadow Boards..
• All breakdowns are reported immediately to senior engineer on site together with notification to GM and subsequently entered into Pirana.
• All plant engineering issues identified on shift are entered into Pirana and if not corrected within one week escalate problem to GM.
• Ensure accurate and effective shift handovers
• Ensure prior shift production records are entered accurately into electronic Daily Shift Report.
• Ensure own shift production records are fully completed by Operators.
• Attend and contribute to fortnightly shift performance review with GM.
• On-plant training assessment of Operatives following poor performance review.
• Assessment of identified alleged' under-performing plant assets to establish if engineering attention required or not.
• To assist GM with review and updating of POM, SWP's, TBT's and HACCP Plan.

Previous proven experience leading a team of operatives in a manufacturing/production environment is essential as well as a valid FLT license.
