Procurement Assistant

Up to £27,000 – £30,000 DOE

Fabric Recruitment is pleased to be working with an innovative and growing organisation based in the Nottingham area; they are dedicated to providing exceptional services and products to their clients on a national scale. Due to continual growth, they are seeking to appoint an experienced Procurement Assistant to join their team.

As a Procurement assistant, you’ll work closely with the Office Manager and Managing Director to ensure timely supply of materials and products while spearheading improvements in the sales and operations planning process. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing customer service levels and optimising working capital performance.

This role will see you undertake the following responsibilities:

Transactional Purchasing

  • To carry out material ordering and expediting activities in line with company requirements.
  • To schedule materials and place PO’s in line with agreed operational plan and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of all incoming goods to the Company.
  • Maintain supply chain data as required by the department.

Inventory Management

  • Working with the Manager and director you will establish supply planning parameters to optimise stocks and costs throughout the supply chain and ensure that inventory levels are kept to a minimum without impacting service levels and availability.
  • Monitor Service Level and Inventory risks to pre-empt possible issues in the short and medium term.

Forecasting & reporting

  • Support the company in developing monthly forecast projections by Product Type, Product Family and SKU level to maximise profit and enable key suppliers to plan accordingly.
  • Prepare and publish appropriate reports to monitor supply chain performance and provide insights into trends in demand to drive improvements in demand and supply side accuracy.

Collaboration & team working

  • Supporting the Operations Manager to ensure that delivery solutions are optimised that support business objectives.
  • Liaise with external suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and products to meet business requirements.
  • Identify underperforming areas in the supply chain and suggest improvements or resolutions to problems.

Systems & Processes

  • Develop and improve systems and methods to continually improve demand forecasts and supply chain planning activities so that the company can better anticipate customer needs.

Skills and experience required:

  • A good understanding of Supply Chain principles & best practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritise efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems preferred.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to draw insightful conclusions from data.
  • Passionate and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to perform under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Confidence to bring new ideas to the table.
