Process Engineer – Newtownards Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The business is complex and ambitious with a milk supply pool of 2 billion litres of milk, drawn from over 3,200 family farms across 16 counties. The Groups Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state-of-the-art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef, and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland. Applications are invited for the above position to work as part of our Manufacturing Team in our Newtownards office. The Role Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations Manager, the role is responsible for developing and improving all process aspects of Newtownards Liquid processing from Milk Intake to Filling machines. The person will work cross functionally to ensure we are optimising our yields, Energy, water usage, chemical usage, CIP Validation as well as effectively managing solids to ensure our effluent plant runs efficiently. The process engineer will work closely with projects and other functions to scope the correct processing equipment for new products as well as advising on new technology to ensure we are at the cutting edge of emulsion technology. The person will scope and accept new equipment for the site as well as setting the standard for liquid processing going forward. The person will be closely working with Operations to ensure we have the correct maintenance programs, and our processes are best in class in order to manufacture our goods at highest possible quality and lowest possible cost. The Person The role requires a candidate to have a relevant 3rd level qualification (engineering discipline) with a minimum of 2 years working experience within manufacturing/engineering (ideally dairy) OR qualification by experience from within a manufacturing/engineering background (minimum of 5 years); The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a process subject matter expert with the technical depth to adapt this knowledge to new technologies. It is desirable if the candidate has previous experience of improvement projects and can demonstrate the ability to use continuous improvement (CI) tools. The candidate must have knowledge in CI methods to overall equipment effectiveness, quality, reduce cost, inefficiencies and waste. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of MS Office to include Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and will be able to use 2D CAD Systems (e.g AutoCAD) or willing to train in CAD software.
