Planner – Civils

Role: Planner

Location: East Midlands

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Comprehensive benefit package

The Client

My client are a leading construction business with a extensive civil engineering arm continuing to grow at a rapid rate across the Midlands and wider UK. Due to multiple project wins they are looking to add a Planner to their business, the right candidate would have experience working on-site delivering schemes or have a track record of successfully civil engineering projects incorporating highways/roads, structures and earth moving.

Responsibilities

Provide detailed support and assistance to the project in order to enable the team to monitor pinch-points on the critical path and test and change logic where previously agreed to either improve upon the baseline programme or to mitigate potential delays.
Produce construction programme for change event quotation
Manage and incorporate change events into the construction programme and jointly with the commercial team, secure full entitlement under the contract.
Give support to delivery site team alongside Project Manager
Ensure management are made aware at the earliest opportunity of any activities which is becoming near critical or likely to become critical.
Work closely with the site operation team to ensure that they are clear on programme demands, notifying management of any activities which are becoming near critical at the earliest opportunity.
Produce reports and programme commentary to customers on particular reporting requirements.
Attend progress meetings and deliver presentation on project progress.
Input to the risk management process
Take overall responsibility for Performance Indicators applicable to planning and programming.
Manage and monitor requirements and report monthly.

Competencies

Extensive knowledge of use of both Microsoft Project and ASTA Powerproject.
Experience in programme and project management, project planning, including programme controls, project review, and cost and risk analysis.
Ability to deliver major project planning to demanding deadlines .
Able to interpret and convert information from data and produce it in a clear and logical format.
Extensive experience working on Earthworks, 278 and general civils based projects.
Ability to plan construction works from first principles, preferably with experience in multi-discipline major projects.
Possess excellent organisational planning and time management ability, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines across multiple schemes.
Demonstrates solid communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts both orally and in written form.

The Candidate

Educated to professional level with a relevant degree or equivalent in a core business discipline.
Detailed working knowledge of both Microsoft Project and ASTA Powerproject
