Operations Analyst

The CompanyNigel Wright are delighted to be exclusively supporting UK gas shipper and supplier Ceres in their search for a Gas Operations Controller.Ceres are a rapidly growing organisation who provide gas trading and operational management tailored to gas producers at any scale. Their gas trading team has in-depth knowledge of gas supply and is bringing new entrants into the gas market. The business also manage a wide portfolio of renewable biogas for a variety of businesses across the UK. The RoleThe Gas Operations Controller will play a crucial role in optimising revenue generation from gas trading and balancing. The role can be worked remotely and also includes daytime out of hours working – it’s likely you will be working 2/4 weekends in a month. Key responsibilities include:Gas Operations

  • Collating, update and transfer gas pricing and production data
  • Work with development team to automate internal processes
  • Ensuring trade nominations and balancing actions are accurate
  • Prepare and issue weekly and monthly reports and presentations
  • Liaise with finance and accounts team to ensure invoicing is timely and accurate

Additional responsibilities

  • Analysis & reporting – Researching, capturing and distilling key information of the UK gas market to help influence business decisions
  • Support projects and process improvements – build models, research, collate and present data in a variety of formats

The RequirementsThis is a fantastic entry level position to develop new skills at a company that can provide a variety of career development opportunities. Key requirements include:

  • Excellent numerical and data analysis skills
  • Organised with strong attention to detail
  • Adept at using Microsoft Excel and good exposure to IT systems and alternative reporting packages
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python is desirable but not essential
  • STEM degree desirable but not essential
