Insurance Underwriter -Vehicle

Niche Commercial Vehicle – Underwriter needed for an award winning insurance company.

This role involves underwriting, analysis and broker relationship development. Working within a team for continued growth and development of multiple commercial vehicle based schemes. Working to meet both income and performance targets.


Quotes, a comprehensive knowledge of all products is required as we actively encourage Bespoke enquiries from our agency base. This involves building up good relationships with our agency base which is essential in the development of our products going forwards. A sound underwriting approach is required as well as the ability to explain decisions/reasoning to the agents.

Phone Calls, this is an essential part of our dealings with agents, which will include new business quotations, adjustment quotations, rating of renewals as well as a full understanding of the different Policy Documents used within the department.

Daily Upload Reports, this includes the collating across all products of the business written, sorted by New Business, Renewals and MTA'. This is used to monitor the incoming business in terms of acceptability of risk as well as correct premium rating, it is also used to monitor our monthly budget to actual performance.

Renewal Inviting, As cases fall due for renewal, they need to be invited on our core system at a suitable premium given the risk/product and known history of the client.

Monthly Renewal Retentions, working approximately a month behind we need to monitor both the retention levels of all agents as well as the premium increases/decreases. This is monitored on several different levels.

Diary System, following on from the above processes a diary system needs to be kept up to date to check that requested action by brokers is actioned as required.

Statistical Analysis, we are constantly reviewing and analysing our account across both products and agents. An ability to recognise areas of poor performance and negative trends is essential in order to maintain performance in line with business expectations.

Hybrid working hours (only 2 days in the office per week)
