Driver Essential? Yes. Manual, adapted vehicle for use on duty

About this client/child:

Oscar is 7 years old and is at the centre of a loving, warm, and welcoming family; Mum, Dad, his older brother, and a sibling due to be born any day! Oscar loves spending time with his family, exploring, playing outside, and using his iPad. Oscar sustained a brain injury at birth and as a result has a physical disability, global developmental delay, and complex medical needs.  Oscar receives his nutrition, fluid and medication via a PEG feed and requires suctioning. With the input of his rehabilitation programme, Oscar has made huge progress with his mobility over the past 12 months, he mostly bottom shuffles however, can pull to standing and walk whilst hand-holding. His communication also continues to improve, and he has started to high tech AAC device and some Makaton signs to support his expressive communication.

Overview of role:

The Support Worker will provide 1:1 care and support to Oscar on Fridays, assisting with his medical needs, personal care, exploring new hobbies and interests, plan and organise activities, support with learning and education, and his overall development and rehabilitation. Oscar has a care plan and a full MDT / therapy team assisting with his rehabilitation. As his support worker you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside his team implementing his therapy and continue to help him make progress. Oscar attends school 4 mornings a week.  He has a Snap Care Support Worker who works two days a week with him at present. This is a permanent role offering a set shift (Friday) weekly, 8.00am to 6.00pm.

Who this job would suit:

An energetic, outgoing, bubbly, and resourceful Support Worker with experience in paediatric and complex care.  For this role, you must be a driver (manual), confident supporting a client in the water, and non-smoker/vaper.
