Health and Safety Manager

We're delighted to be recruiting for a knowledgeable and proactive Health and Safety Manager on behalf of a prestigious, class-leading manufacturing company with an excellent international reputation in it's industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for championing and promoting health and safety awareness across the organisation, by sharing good practice on health and safety matters and disseminating information across the company as appropriate.
You will also ensure the business is legally compliant with all Health & Safety legislation, working collaboratively with (and training) all employees to manage, monitor and improve the health and safety standards in the workplace.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Proactively collaborating on Environmental, Health and Safety projects, across all sites
* Attending, recording and managing workplace injuries/near misses appropriately through risk assessments, accident investigations and reporting methods
* Preparing responses to insurers or solicitors in response to any personal injury claims
* Providing authoritative guidance on Health & Safety matters to all stakeholders, especially on those relating to your designated area of responsibility
* Reviewing and auditing arrangements for Health & Safety management, while continuously improving these arrangements where appropriate
* Proactively managing risks and dealing with insurance issues on site
* Planning and strategising work systems around reducing Health and Safety risks, for example, recommending suitable adaptations to machinery and processes
* Taking responsibility for all safety inspections in the workplace
* Ensuring all required documentation is up to date and accessible
* Ensuring robust reporting regimes are in place for Health & Safety statistics
* Providing management with information and statistics related to your area of responsibility
* Supporting business change via effective change management processes
* Driving behavioural culture change programmes, across a large, complex, multi-site operation
* Taking responsibility for waste management policies and processes in line with Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, throughout the business and at various locations
* Complying at all times with the letter and spirit of the Company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policy, Equality Policy and Handbook
* Carrying out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the jobholder's line manager
Skills and experience required:
* NEBOSH Diploma Qualified
* Extensive Health and Safety Management experience within the manufacturing industry
* Must have an excellent knowledge of current Lifting Regulations (LOLER regulations)
* Skilled in budgetary formulation, analysis and management with a proven track record of operational excellence and cost efficiency
* Excellent presentation, negotiation and influencing skills
* Experience managing multiple competing interests and priorities
* IT proficient, with a sound understanding of MS Office
* Able to give evidence of successful, well-organised project management
Hours of work:
* 8am – 4.30pm Monday – Friday
Salary and benefits:
* Up to £65,000
