This placement is an opportunity to work in a small, international finance team that plays an essential role in maintaining the reliability of our energy assets, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency. Your responsibilities will cover a range of finance functions, including processing month-end journals, assisting in the preparation of monthly financial and commercial reports, and managing BritNed VAT returns. You will also be involved in the audit process, year-end accounts, and conducting monthly balance sheet reviews. In collaboration with the BritNed finance team, you will work on improving accounts payable processes and strengthening financial controls. You will also support the preparation of NG forecasts (QRF) and the BritNed budget (MTP), gaining insight into the financial planning of our operations. As a member of both the BritNed and NGV finance teams, you will have the opportunity to understand various aspects of finance in the energy sector, with quarterly travel to the Netherlands providing additional exposure and learning opportunities. You will interact with a range of stakeholders including the BritNed Commercial team, wider BritNed team, NGV FP&A, NGV Finance Interconnectors, auditors, as well as the NG Tax team and external tax support. This placement is ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience, develop their skills, and establish a foundation for a career in finance within the energy sector. About you We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our Finance team at National Grid for a 12-month Industrial Placement. If you have moderate Excel skills, are able to work to deadlines, and enjoy teamwork, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. During your placement, you will develop skills in commercial awareness, financial reporting, and stakeholder management, as well as gain an understanding of VAT, corporation tax, and financial controls. You will also become proficient in various systems and software including Sage200, SharePoint, and PowerPoint. This role is designed for someone eager to learn and ready to contribute to a dynamic finance team. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. What you’ll need You’ll need to achieve a 2.1 in the 1st year of your degree and you’ll need to be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting. You’ll also ideally have a valid full UK Driving License.Location This role is based in Warwick with flexible, hybrid working.
