Cast UK are delighted to be recruiting an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (EHS) for Bunzl UK & Ireland which is part of Bunzl PLC, a multinational distribution and outsourcing company headquartered in London and active in 30 countries.
Bunzl UK & Ireland is headquartered in Epsom and the EHS Manager must but able to travel readily and easily throughout the UK & Ireland so a central or Midlands location would be ideal. In total there are 5 Divisions and 25 operating companies.
The EHS Manager will provide strategic advice and guidance on EHS policy and EHS risks to the UK & I Business Area. They will guide and support the business and line management to continuously improve EHS performance and will develop and maintain EHS policies and procedures ensuring that all managers, supervisors, and staff are trained and comply with requirements. This key role within Bunzl will provide inspiration and leadership to local EHS experts and establish a proactive EHS support service with a commercially focused influence throughout the business.
Represent UK & Ireland in EHS Bunzl group committee(s)
Ensure understanding of EHS policies and required standards by effective communication and training
Carry out site visits and audits and advise line management and EHS staff on the appropriate interpretation of Group EHS policies
Ensure that acquired companies in the UK & Ireland are made aware of Group EHS policies
Provide support and guidance for ISO 14001 accreditation and re-accreditation
Propose EHS focus areas and ensures targets for these areas are included in the strategic planning process in the business area
Skills & Experience Required
A minimum of 10 years of EHS experience, preferably gained within an international organisation and within the supply chain, logistics or manufacturing sectors
Up to date knowledge of European EHS legislation and ability to interpret and prioritise
Experience of developing and implementing accident prevention and EHS training programmes
Experience in developing and implementing environmental improvement programs e.g. waste prevention and carbon emission reduction.
Experience of coordinating EHS audits and ensuring the implementation and monitoring of recommendations
Knowledge and experience of international standards: ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
Bachelor or Masters' degree in Environmental Management or related field
