Overview

Willmott Dixon Construction are looking to recruit a Digital Engineer to join our midlands team. As a Digital engineer you will combine your expertise in construction engineering and your advanced knowledge of digital technologies, such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), computational design, data analytics, to ensure we leverage these technologies to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of our construction projects.

Working in a hybrid way from our office in central Birmingham, home and our projects you will support our customers, preconstruction and site teams to ensure we have a BIM execution plan for all of our projects.

Reporting to our Head of digital construction, your key responsibilities will be:

  • To collaborate with project teams to identify and address items from customer documentation.
  • Conduct early-stage reviews of models to assess their status and identify potential improvements and highlight any risks.
  • Generate comprehensive BIM documentation tailored to project requirements.
  • Lead BIM meetings with project teams.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are in alignment with the BIM Execution Plan.
  • Assist The Head of Digital Construction with the implementation of new methodologies, processes, and technology solutions.
  • Conduct clash detection throughout the project lifecycle until there is a clash resolved model.
  • Review and analyse COBie information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer documentation.
  • Identify and detect any potential opportunity/risk for the project or the team.
  • Provide training and guidance to consultants and supply chain partners.
  • Understanding of ISO19650, Viewpoint for Projects (4P), IFC, COBie, and classification systems.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

The ideal candidate:

  • Be able to successfully collaborate and be a strong communicator
  • Proficiency in BIM software, including Revit, AutoCad, Solibri, Navisworks, Revizto, Viewpoint for Projects.
  • Have knowledge of clash detection methodologies and procedures.
  • Able to generate and review COBie information.
  • Familiar with laser scanning processes but this isn’t essential.
  • Hold a BIM or related degree.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills by effectively planning and prioritising own workload.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects of varying values, ensuring timely completion and delivery.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively handle changing priorities.
  • Proactive problem solving.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination and successful project complete.
