Assistant Accountant  – Yorkshire Housing Limited

We’re on the lookout for two Assistant Accountants (cross team support) to join our brilliant finance team!
We are looking for someone to work collaboratively across the finance function as an assistant accountant/finance analyst to provide accountancy support, financial analysis and modelling, and treasury management and to support project work.
The role will work within each finance function on a rotational basis, giving the opportunity to gain experience in financial accounting, management accounting, business partnering, treasury and financial operations. Playing a key part in developing expertise and flexibility within the function to ensure performance delivery is continually improved to support YH and its customers.

What you’ll be getting up to
Collaborate with both finance and operational colleagues to analyse issues impacting on financial and business performance.
Assist with a wide range of topics including reconciliations, ledger analysis, management accounting, financial accounting, cost management, pricing decisions, procurement, investment appraisals and benefit realisation monitoring.
Undertake financial modelling and other analysis, to support finance colleagues and the wider business in effective decision making and to help the improve business performance.
Support the production of the monthly financial management information report and other similar reports including report collation, and variance analysis.
Support the production of statutory financial accounts.
Work with colleagues to prepare accurate information for inclusion in regulatory returns including NROSH.
Ensure that outputs are easily understood and fit for use by non-finance colleagues and other stakeholders.
Support the development of processes and procedures for use across the finance function.

Sounds good? Here’s what we need from you…
We’re looking for someone who’s extremely numerate with previous experience of working within a finance team/role. You’ll have strong reconciliations experience, particularly in balance sheets. You’ll be commercially aware with an ability to solve problems. Working knowledge with Open accounts or similar software and intermediate Excel skills.
You’ll be able to work independently and as a team, be really organised, pro-active with deadlines and have strong interpersonal skills. You’ll be working towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g., Certified or Chartered Accountant), or AAT qualified and willing to study towards a professional accounting qualification.
It would be a bonus if you had…
